Sclerosis Sadie — Multiple Sclerosis: Demyelination, Relapses & Heat Intolerance
Her symptoms come, go, and come back somewhere else — and a hot bath makes every one of them worse

Sadie is 32. Last spring one eye blurred for a month, then cleared. This winter her left leg is numb and weak, and after a hot shower she cannot stand safely at all.
Sadie's immune system strips the myelin off her central nervous system fibers, so signals slow, scatter or stop. Because plaques appear in different places at different times, her symptoms are scattered and relapsing: blurred or double vision, numbness and tingling, weakness, spasticity, ataxia, fatigue, bladder dysfunction and cognitive fog. Heat worsens conduction through demyelinated fibers, so hot baths, saunas and fever temporarily amplify every symptom. Care focuses on fatigue and energy pacing, safety, heat avoidance and immunomodulating therapy.
